Who Hosts the Beginner Photography Podcast?

Hey I’m Raymond Hatfield! I’ve been a wedding photography for the past 10 years and before that worked in TV and Film. I started the podcast because I sometimes felt like an imposter, having not went to school for photography. The podcast offered me the ability to talk to photographers and find out how they see and capture the world. After just a year or two I realized, the settings matter so much less than most new photographers would think. What matters in a great photograph is Light, Composition, and most important, Moment! So I switched gears and started asking guests less about what camera they were using and more about how to connect with your subjects better. Immediately listenership for the podcast took off. In a world of youtube reviews telling new photographers they have to have the most expensive gear, the Beginner Photography Podcast gave hope and motivation to those new to the hobby of photography. My main goal is to encourage and motivate listeners to simply pick up their camera and shoot. Each year the podcast has a theme, in 2021 the podcasts theme was “Make. Do.” Make more, Do more. In 2023 the yearly theme is simply to shoot more today and be a better photographer tomorrow. These themes have resonated with listeners who continually upload their newest captures to the Beginner Photography Podcast Facebook Community.
